For their latest Fall Winter ’23 collection, Coperni partnered with Boston Dynamics to have robot dogs share the runway stage with their models.
Known for the brand’s support for technology, Coperni has once again surprised the audiences and rocked the fashion world in its latest runway revolution by having five of Boston Dynamic’s “Spot” robot dogs strut the runway to help Coperni’s models carry their handbags and take off their coats.
Describing the fashion show as a “modern fable”, the appearance of robot dogs painted in striking black and yellow tarantula stripes was a mesmerizing contrast to the tall catwalk models.
The genius duo behind Coperni, Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, personally traveled to Boston to meet the creators of Spot. Both were impressed by Boston Dynamics’ vision. To quote Vaillant, “(Boston Dynamics is) the first robot company who signed a charter that they would never give weapons to robots, the first who sent robots to Ukraine to clear dangerous bomb sites”.
Connecting it with their brand, Coperni, Vaillant adds, “ours is a positive message, that humans and technology can live together in harmony”.
In relation to that, Boston Dynamics has deployed their robot dogs in the military and has even donated some to the Los Angeles LAPD. However, the collaboration between Coperni and Boston Dynamics proves that these robot dogs can function more than that and can also be beautiful robotic “fashion statements”.
