Litter-Robot 5 Pro Evo Brings AI Smarts and Dual Cameras to Self-Cleaning Litter Boxes

Share

Whisker has introduced the next generation of its popular self-cleaning cat litter boxes, unveiling the Litter-Robot 5 Pro Evo as part of a broader lineup of smart models designed to make pet care easier and more insightful. The new series builds on the brand’s reputation for automating one of the least pleasant parts of cat ownership — scooping — while adding a suite of modern tech upgrades that lean into artificial intelligence and data tracking.

At the top of the range is the Litter-Robot 5 Pro Evo, which pairs Whisker’s established automatic cleaning mechanism with dual AI-powered cameras. These cameras use facial recognition technology to distinguish between up to five cats in a household and monitor how each one uses the box — from toilet visits to weight and activity trends. The onboard cameras can also stream short clips and provide recorded footage through the Whisker app, giving pet owners a new way to remotely check in on their cats.

The entire Litter-Robot 5 series introduces Whisker’s new WasteID system, a feature that tells the machine whether a cat has urinated or defecated. This lets the robot optimize its cleaning cycle to lock away solid waste more quickly, improving odor control and efficiency. All models now include a larger sealed waste drawer and a brighter LCD control panel that replaces the previous dot-style LEDs for clearer status readouts.

Whisker is rolling out several tiers in the lineup alongside the Pro Evo. The standard Litter-Robot 5 drops the dual-camera system, while the compact Litter-Robot Evo offers a smaller footprint for single-cat homes or tight spaces. The Pro Evo caters most directly to multi-pet households or tech-minded owners who want the deepest data insights.

The company is also continuing to push Whisker+, an optional subscription service that unlocks expanded analytics and long-term historical data inside the Whisker mobile app. Subscribers get a deeper view of bathroom patterns, potential health changes, and other insights based on each cat’s tracked usage.

With the launch of the Litter-Robot 5 lineup, Whisker is signaling its ambitions in smart pet technology — combining automated cleanup with AI-powered tracking aimed at helping cat owners better care for their companions.
